New Carrington Development
Trafford is entering the final stages of preparing Phase 1 of the New Carrington Masterplan Funding Mechanism and Delivery Strategy. Trafford is seeking feedback on the plan through a public consultation which has a particular focus on the Proportionate Infrastructure Contributions Schedule. You have until 11.59pm on 15 October 2025 to provide your feedback.
What is the New Carrington Masterplan?
This is one of the UK’s largest regeneration schemes, centred on Carrington in Trafford. The land comprises about 1,600-2,000 acres (Carrington Estate is circa1,665 acres) of mixed land including former industrial/petrochemical use (Shell refinery, other works), agricultural land, some greenfield and previously developed land.
The policy framework is set via Places for Everyone (PfE), the joint Greater Manchester strategic plan, which formally adopted a strategic allocation for New Carrington.

The main components that are planned include:
-
About 5,000–6,000 homes across the site
-
Large amounts of employment space, especially industrial and warehousing
-
Village hubs, local centres, amenities (shops, health uses, schools, green/open spaces)
Further details about Phase 1 and how to provide feedback is available via this link: New Carrington Masterplan Consultation
The Parish Council wanted to make residents of Dunham Massey aware of this consultation due to the close proximity of this major development project to Dunham Massey and the potential impact on the Parish.

Manchester Airport

Lamppost
Restoration
The Parish Council is currently employing contractors to restore and repair the traditional lampposts in the village. This operation is being phased between 2023 and 2025. Without Parish Council involvement, these lampposts would either have remained in disrepair, been removed or replaced with generic alternatives not in keeping with the aesthetics of Dunham Massey.
